Had a very good experience tonight at CherrySTONES. Seated promptly early in the evening on a weekday. It's early in the summer season for Bar Harbor. Drink order was fulfilled right away, and they knew how to make an Old Fashioned. Soup came out quickly as did the entree. Wife had the lobster dinner special and I ordered the baked haddock from the menu. Both were very good. The 'lobster mashed potatoes' left us a little puzzled but was edible. Just bland. Place had a good atmosphere, maybe a little pricey but we left feeling satisfied.

Beautiful day and our family enjoyed the outdoor dining. The live music was a nice bonus! Waiter was very friendly. I ordered the lobster / crab / bacon sandwich and was very happy. Wife ordered the lobster roll and was also happy. I did deduct one star because my wife overheard one of the employees voice her opinion about another customer that was apparently unhappy with something. I deal with customers in my work and you should take that stuff to a back room, don't let other customers see it. Overall recommend!

Dinner service was good, rolls with fresh cinnamon maple butter were delicious. Bacon wrapped scallops cooked perfectly. Lobster very tasty. Haddock was overcooked, and cut wasn't the best. Stick with the lobster you can't go wrong. Ambience outside much better than indoors.

We ate here a week ago. Late lunch, early dinner, just about happy hour time. It turned out that the outdoor patio was the perfect place to sit and watch the rain (and all the people dealing with the rain!) while refueling after a day of exploring Acadia National Park and walking around Bar Harbor. The thunderstorm rolled in just a few minutes after we sat down & when it started pouring, they dropped down the clear plastic awnings so we could look without getting soaked. We had the beet & apple salad, lobster bisque, and the baked haddock which came with brussel sprouts. Plus a mead made with cherries & apple cider called Zombie Killer. All of it hit the spot!! The rain cleared when we were done eating... couldn't have asked for more.

Went here two days in a row for happy hour. Great prices! Their flatbreads and drinks are half off, and $1 shrimp. Their computer was timed wrong so they charged us normal prices which we had to point out ourselves and get fixed...pretty annoying. I'm guessing they got away with charging plenty of people full price during happy hour. The flatbread was really good. The shrimp are just normal shrimp which I love. We also ordered a lobster here to share and it was nothing special. It seemed smaller than the advertised size. The pros: great covered outdoor seating right across from the village green, cheap happy hour prices (if they actually charge you correctly). 4 stars for the happy our, 1 star for everything else.

When we arrived, we were seated outside as requested, but the table was is a direct line with a heater blowing right on us, so we decided to wait for another table. It was so hot I could hardly breathe. As it turned out, a table in the bar area opened up and we enjoyed this much more. Our dinners were very good. My husband had a steak and I had halibut. We each had lobster mashed potatoes which were inedible because it tasted like someone dropped a container of pepper in them. Our waiter/bartender/ possible manager came and asked if everything was ok and as an aside we just mentioned the potatoes were a bit over peppered. He could not have cared any less! But overall, a nice place to lunch or have dinner.

The Seared Ahi Tuna was phenomenal. My service was exceptional, but I sit at the bar, so that helps. Great local beer. $6 for local brew seems a bit inflated whe I got one across the street for $4.50

Great little corner restaurant at the Village Green in Bar Harbor! Excellent deal to be had here during happy hour, too. Their food and drink specials make this one of the most reasonably priced restaurants in town. We stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner after noticing their 4-6PM happy hour specials and were not disappointed at all. My lobster roll and clam chowder were both very tasty. They had a pretty good beer list, although only the half price happy hour specials only applied to draft beers (which our awesome server pointed out when I ordered a bottle first). Did I mention the awesome server? In addition to making sure we would get the happy hour specials, he was quick to even provide alternate dining options from a local's point of view for our other nights in town. I'll definitely be back in for a beer on the patio or cocktail at the inside bar next time I'm in town. Also, note that the vibe of the inside bar/restaurant is very different from the deck bar on the corner. Inside seems much classier and subdued, while the deck is great for people watching and enjoying a drink and food in a more casual environment.

This was a big disappointment...2 adult lunches and one kid lunch...chowder was subpar...meal took over 35 minutes to come out after ordering (not a busy day)...wait staff generally indifferent to you. Beautiful location with lots of outdoor seating including second floor. Food and service was not for me.

This place was ok. We stopped here on our first night in Bar Harbor. The best thing about this place was the drink I ordered. I got the blueberry martini and it was delicious and STRONG. The bottom of the glass was filled with fresh blueberries and it was, I gotta say, a real pretty drink. We all ordered the lobster dinner. It came with green beans and choice of roasted red skin potatoes or lobster mashed potatoes. The lobsters came and they just tasted really bland. Kind of tough, as well. The green beans were good and the potatoes(I got mashed, everyone else got red skin) and either option was pretty good. I would say, if you want a real authentic(and cheaper) lobster dinner, go out of town a little ways to one of the lobster pounds(Beal's or Thurston's are the best). I might give this place a try again and get something different, but not my favorite lobster dinner.

My husband and I stopped here after a day of hiking and walking through Bar Harbor. The food was all done well, but nothing really shown through as fantastic. On the plus side, the oysters here were shucked really well! Not a single piece of wayward shell. Kudos to whoever shucks there. Unfortunately, they were not very flavorful. Also, $25 for a dozen seems a little steep for me. There are place sin Portland where you can get a dozen of super fresh oysters for $11. My bisque was definitely done well, for the first time in awhile I was happy to see actual bisque in front of me rather than chowder. I hate when restaurants do that. But I digress. Like the oysters the bisque suffered from a lack of flavor. It could have tasted a lot more strongly of lobster. My husband got a sandwich (I forgot what was on it...avocado? chicken?) and it was enormous! It's really hard to screw up a sandwich and like everything else it was prepared well, just not super amazing. Decent tap list, somewhat mediocre service. Our waitress disappeared for almost half an hour and we were stuck waiting for a check. We thought there was a change of shift, as did the table next to us but 30 minutes later there she was! No apology.

My husband and I had a very nice experience here. The outdoor seating is great for people watching and enjoying the warm air. The food was a bit pricey but we were very happy with our dinners. I had the chicken cobb salad (substituted lobster for more chicken since I don't like seafood) and my husband had the baked haddock. Both were excellent and we ate every last bite. If there was a negative the waitress we had was a little slow and quiet. I wouldn't call her unfriendly, she was just to the point and disappeared offering no casual banter which could work for some people.

It is a bit harsh to give only 2 stars but the lobster was so lacking in taste that I have no choice. Early bird lobster specials abound in Bar Harbor and we try to eat most of them. I enjoyed sitting in the heated bar tent since there were quite a few dogs present, always a bonus for me. The bar specials were great though, the shrimp, HUGE and reasonable, the cocktail sauce so tasty I used it as my salad dressing as well. My husband thought his lobster was tasty so maybe 2.5 stars would be more fair.

We had a great lunch at Cherrystone's. The hostess seated us on their upstairs balcony, which offered us great peoplewatching in the central square on a lovely afternoon. The menu has some great lunch-fare options. I ordered the Lobster Roll with a side salad instead of the usual chips, which was fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend Cherrystone's as a great, central, in-town lunch option. Bar Harbor downtown is a really nice place. If you go there, don't ever think about going to Cherry Stones. Cherry Stones is a really bad restaurant. There are a few good things about Cherry Stones though. You don't have to wait to long for a table; it was 6:30 when we asked for a table. By 6:45 we were seated, and this was a Saturday evening. We had planned on going to another restaurant, Galyn's, which seemed to have had a longer wait time for seating. So we decided to go to Cherry Stones instead where were seated on the balcony at Cherry Stones, which was very nice. Also, the food was good. So you would think the restaurant would be highly rated. BUT IT'S NOT. The bad thing about Cherry Stones is pretty much, all the service. We had to wait 45 minutes before the waitress brought out our bread. Then we saw her bring out some food, which we thought was finally ours. But it was for another table, a table that had been seated AFTER us. The food for the other table was accompanied by questions from the waitress about who ordered what. Twenty minutes later, our food finally came out. She didn't ask who ordered what. Mom didn't get her entree at all. When we finally asked about the missing entree, the waitress brought it out within minutes. Unfortunately, it was the WRONG dish. What happened was Mom's dish was given to Uncle, and Uncle's dish was the one that was late. But uncle ate all of Mom's halibut. The waitress suggested that Mom's halibut could be redone, but would take about 10 more minutes; but we had already been there for 1 plus hour. No go. After dinner, we tried to check in with the manager to offer suggestions for better servicing. But the manager didn't give us the time of day. He didn't apologize for the mix up, and the slow, bad service. Instead, he said the waitress is competent and that's all. He had no sympathy for Mom not getting an entree, nor any concerns on the slowness of the service. This was, by far, the worst restaurant we visited in Bar Harbor. Galyn's would most likely have been much better, given there was a wait to be seated. Food and service there must mean something since Cherry Stones had no wait time. Cherry Stones has no customer service or concerns for the customers. If you go to Bar Harbor, don't go to Cherry Stones!

Everywhere you travel, there are restaurants that are touristy, with okay food that never rises above mediocrity. Cherrystones is such a restaurant. Convenient, especially in a rain storm, but average. I ordered 6 raw oysters. Every one had grit. The clam chowder was disappointing. Homemade, according to our server, but not very flavorful. My wife and I both got "surf and turf" specials. The lobster was chewy and had a strong fishy smell, like it might have been reheated, overcooked, or dead before cooking. Some parts even smelled like ammonia. I've made it at home and had it in restaurants a few times and I don't think it's supposed to have any strong smell. The server was very friendly and could sense that we weren't happy, but we opted to not spend vacation time complaining about meals or waiting for a remake. I somewhat regret that now because I'm curious whether it was an honest mistake or whether they just wanted to pass off some bad lobster on unsuspecting tourists. On the positive side, the deck seating is quite nice, as was the server.

This used to be the Parkside, and was always the first place we'd go for dinner when we arrived in Bar Harbor. It overlooks the park and is a close walk to our hotel. This year, it was Cherrystone's, and SO much better than Parkside! We actually ate here twice on our week long vacation. The haddock with aioli is to die for, as are the lobster mashed potatoes. The steamed clams we got to start were the cleanest I have ever had, and the scallops and salmon specials were great too. We only had wine, so I can't comment on how the bar drinks might be, but the service was excellent. You can sit on the upstairs deck overlooking the park, and they also have covered, heated street level seating (and indoor seating of course too). We were initially concerned when we saw it wasn't Parkside anymore, but this is certainly an improvement!

The ahi-tuna app with a seaweed salad ($12) was delicious. One of the specials was a boiled lobster dinner with lobster mashed potatoes & green beans. It was delicious at only $21. Our server was Greg and he did an excellent job. Would recommend! There are happy hour specia from 4-6 as well. There is also heated outdoor seating...was very nice!

Super disappointing! The steamed lobster was not fresh at all and was overcooked. The beeftip special was mediocre at best. And the roasted red potatoes tasted like they'd been under the warmer all day. How can you mess up potatoes? To top it all off, two bad entrees and one beer cost us $45! One saving grace: good live duet playing oldies covers.

Went here with some friends from out of state who wanted some real Maine lobster. Me not being a fan of lobster, I played it safe with a burger and onion rings. The onion rings were breaded perfectly and they were great! But the burger... Let me just say that I eat burgers often and, like most people, I have found that there is only so much you can do with a burger. Burgers aren't much different from Ruby Tuesdays to Longhorns to Bk. No matter what they choose to call them. But anyway, I got a burger here at Cherrystones which was billed as "The Goods." This. Burger. Was. Awesome! I live in Bangor and definitely would make the hour trip to go to Cherrystones again.

Now, this is what I call fabulous food! The clam chowder was great, the mussels were primo, and the tuna was terrific! The blueberry pie was perfect! Service is also excellent (our server was Greg, also). You won't be disappointed.

The cherry stone clams were fabulous. As was the halibut. My husband had lobster, and enjoyed that, too. We sat near the street, and it was fairly quiet. We took our children, and that menu is limited. They were not as happy. My 10 year old actually ate some of the halibut.

After eating lobster almost exclusively for a few days we came to Cherrystones for something different. I liked eating outside on the covered patio because there was very good people watching. Food wise and price wise I wasn't impressed with this restaurant and probably wouldn't go back. My boyfriend didn't like his clam chowder and I didn't like the steamers and my fish sandwich. The steamers were extremely gritty, almost as though they had not been scrubbed before being steamed. I have since realized I don't really like steamers in general, so this point may just be relevant to my personal taste. My fish sandwich was huge, so if you're looking for volume this is a good option. Our waitress wasn't sure what type of fish was in the sandwich, but was sure it was a local caught white fish. The sandwich was ok, but I did find it to be a little fishy. I also tried a glass of their house pinot noir which was not very good at all. All told not a horrible dining experience, but definitely expensive for what I thought to be subpar food.

Was really lovin' this place for a late night dinner until the waitress insisted (three times) when we asked for dessert that we go to the ice cream place across the street. Why not just close the kitchen at some point and tell clients hey we are taking last orders for dessert? Do you really think people are that stupid that they can't tell? Lobster bisque was one of the best ever. Food was very good. Prices were on the higher side but not expensive.

Decent "early bird" or patio bar specials 50% off flatbreads, beer, and wine? Clam Flatbread very good with a good amount of clams but quite heavy on the cheese. Harvest mussels were okay sauce was very heavy as well and on the sweet side. Lavender martini was excellent with a strong yet not overpowering lavender taste. One of the early bird specials was $1.50 jumbo shrimp. This was very fresh and excellent. Served the classic way in a cup filled with tangy cocktail sauce. Decor: Layout is strange and could definitely be maximized. Service: Good, attentive. Overall: Would be back if I was in the area.

Came to Bar Harbor looking for our "ultimate" Maine dinner and found it here. The lobster, clams, and mussels were delicious and portions were large. The lobster mashed potatoes and blueberry pie were great too. The location is right on the main street in Bar Harbor and has great views of the rest of the street.

YELP ROOAAAAAAAST!!!!!!!!!!!! Our rude waitress showed such disrespect trying to scam us on something as small as a beer glass. My dad collects cups and was very excited to get a custom made glass from the restaurant. she tried to give us a cheap PEPSI cola glass disguised in a paper bag that wasn't only cheap ($1 glass) but not even cleaned (5 dollas for a cup, Bruh seriously) . I mean FO REAL that's low. NOW THIS WASNT ALL SHE DID. My bro,on his way to the bathroom, overheard our waitress talking smack bout our 10 year old brother(who has troubles communicating sometimes) She was Thinking that he gave her a bad look, when he was just confused on what she was saying. I mean why u talking about a 10 year old. I mean Come on. All 6 of us even spent 180 bucks eating there and u STILL stealing money from us. So 20% of 180 is I think above $30. She was gonna get $30+ from seating ONE TABLE. We didn't do anything to annoy/anger her too. And she was still rude. Our dad, as kind and friendly as he is, was FURIOUS. I mean "**** her" and ****. We've all never seen him this upset tho. I wouldn't blame em. We asked for nothing. And got crappy service in return. GOOD FOOD THO.

Our food was great. We ordered lobster bisque, clam chowder, chicken orzo, many different burgers, and ahi tuna. All great. For atmosphere, fresh food, and drinks, this meal was excellent.

Good food but extremely small portions and overpriced for what you get. Note that we are not typical American diners -- ie we would rather have smaller portions of good food for less money than get a dinner plate with enough for 3 portions on it. However my salmon was a very tiny slice with snow peas for $25, lobster dinner was just meh (my husband said he had better at the nightly lobster dinner offered at our KOA campground in Bar Harbor). Nothing horrible but we would not return.

Nice restaurant. They had multiple outdoor seating options. Husband got the before 6pm lobster special for $20 with the lobster mashed potatoes. The lobster was on the smaller side. I got the lobster roll special with chowder and fries. The lobster roll was great. The fries tasted like they needed to change the oil in the dryer though. My daughter got the lobster carbonara and it was delicious. Our waiter was super nice. Overall a nice experience in Bar Harbor.

With the many choice for sea food dinners, we decided to try Cherrystones. We came in with a fairly large group. Very disappointed in the staff. We needed a bigger table but they ended up stuffing us in a tiny little corner. I completely understand the restaurant wanting to keep tables for more guest but come on we did not even have enough room for keep all our plates on the table. I ended up putting things on the floor to make more room. I will give them credit, the food was fantastic. Surf & Turf was some of the best I have had in a very long time. Can't give them more than 2 stars due to their digesting service.

This place is okay - nothing bad, nothing great. I ordered the prime rib sandwich and fries and was slightly underwhelmed. The meat seemed a little greasy for me. My boyfriend got a burger that he enjoyed, it had BBQ sauce, onion rings, and other interesting toppings. We both had some chowder which was good, as well. The service was good and the best part about the place is the cute location in downtown Bar Harbor. All in all, it's a decent (slightly touristy) restaurant in the area for lunch/dinner.

We decided to come here tonight so my wife could have the requisite boiled lobster while we're in Maine on vacation. My daughter was excited to have mac & cheese for dinner after loving mine at McKay's the other night, but was very disappointed; the $8 mac n' cheese on the kids menu was Kraft Dinner. At least she enjoyed the snow peas that came on the side, which were nicely crisp still. I started with the beet and apple salad, which was pretty good; the vinaigrette nicely offset the sweetness of the beets, and the apples, nuts, and goat cheese were good. But I suspect that the beets themselves came out of a can. My wife started with the clam chowder, which was also pretty good, though we've had better on this trip. At this point we got the bread service, which was warm rolls with very tasty blueberry butter. For my main course I had the mussel appetizer, which came in a tarragon cream sauce which was tasty but rather over-salted. My wife had ordered the boiled lobster, but got the grilled lobster tail by mistake and had to send it back; as a result she didn't get her food until after I was done. When it finally did come it was tasty, as were the snow peas and lobster mashed potatoes that came with it.

We went here for dinner while on vacation, looking for a view of a TV to watch the World Cup final and made the mistake of not looking at the menu first before deciding to be seated. The prices were were extremely high for the selections offered. The prices were more than some places in New York City. I had the butternut squash ravioli, husband had halibut, son had lobster bisque, daughter had chicken. My meal was room temp, not hot, but for $21 (?) I wasn't going to not eat it. Well, I had a few and they just tasted packaged, not much squash inside them. Husbands halibut with pineapple was good. Chicken, well, it's hard to mess that up. Sons lobster bisque was ok. The service less than stellar. Our server never came back once our food was brought to us, no refills on drinks or our beers. Would consider your options before going here.

Came here for lunch with my girlfriend. The place wasn't busy, so we were seated right away. The server was a nice kid. Probably doing work during the summer season in between college terms. My gf was a fail and ordered chicken here.....yeah i don't get it. I had the lobster roll with homemade chips. I loved the chips. The lobster roll was good, but the chips were better. We also ordered a tuna sashimi app which was AMAZING. The tuna was sushi grade and it was seared and coated perfectly. I loved the taste of the crust. This was by far the best part of the whole meal. The blueberry alcoholic drink was really yummy too. It was deceptively strong but not overly sweet. It was a manly drink for a fruity drink. Love the casual feel and it looked like it got busier by the time that we were done with our meals.

Had the Delmonico steak with mushroom marmalade glaze $24. Flavor was great! Very fatty steak though. Would have easily given 5 stars but I ended up throwing a third of it away. Also had a stone punch $9 VERY GOOD and a Bar Harbor blueberry ale also very good. Would definitely come back!

I really recommend that you do not go to this restaurant. The prices are absurd! The quality of the food is below average but the prices would like you to believe that they are a four star restaurant. I only give them two stars because our waitress was very nice and did not charge me for the seafood piccata which I could not eat. The fried fish in the piccata tasted frozen and the sauce had no flavor. My boyfriend ordered the seared tuna which was pretty boring for $27. If they are going to charge so much money then the food should reflect the price. We had planned to go to the restaurant down the street (I can't remember the name) but it was raining and there was a line out the door. We decided on this place because I didn't want to stand in the rain anymore. The fact that only a quarter of the restaurant was occupied should have been a clue. Shame on me.

Horrible overpriced food. Even at half price for Happy Hour the flatbreads are like cardboard and clearly come right off a some frozen prepackaged delivery truck. And they do not know how to find 50% off a beer. All of our $5 and $6 beers were either $3 or $3.50. I know it is a little obsurd for me to complain about fifty cents but it really irritated me. I was here for a dinner over the 4th of July weekend with my wife and parents. Bar Harbor was very crowded over the July 4th weekend and all places had long waits and so this was no exception. We had about a 30-minute long wait for being seated. Our parents were still feeling fairly full from the late lunch we had and so for the two of us we ordered a lobster carbonara, a cherrystones cioppino, and a bowl of the lobster bisque. We wanted to order a soup sampler but they were out of the soup-of-the-day so that took the soup sampler out of contention. My comments have to mostly do with the poor service at the restaurant. The first comment is that the server who should have gotten us bread did not do that until after our meals arrived. Which by the way took a long while from the time we ordered. When our meals did arrive, my wife was very surprised to find that she had not been served the Cioppino but instead had been served a seafood piccata. Anyone who has ever served at a restaurant serving both dishes should be able to spot the mistake in a jiffy but our server was slow in recognizing that she had messed up the order and had to "check with the kitchen" to verify it. Eventually she came back and agreed to her mistake. Instead of being apologetic, she asked us if we were prepared to wait for another 20 minutes to bring out the correct dish. As we were not in a tearing rush, we agreed that it would be worthwhile to wait and after another 12- 15 minutes, my wife was able to get the cioppino. The cioppino also comes with a side and although she had ordered a side of potatoes, that was missing! We were too tired by then to remind her and simply had the dishes as they were served. In addition, our waters were not refilled at all and there were times where we had to wait at least 5-8 minutes before our server who had been requested to refill our water would come back with refills.Overall, this was among the poorest services we have received in any restaurant in a long while. And worst of all, no one appeared apologetic or contrite once during the whole process. Hope that speaks to the quality of the service. As far as the taste of the food was concerned, it was fine but nothing spectacular. I am writing this review about two weeks later and I cannot think of anything which stood out - either in a good or a bad way. I recall having asked for a hot sauce / crushed red pepper for my carbonara but that probably speaks more about my taste buds than about the spiciness of the food since it is very common for me to find Italian food less spicy than ideal. But besides the un-remarkableness of the food, it is also the case that the poor service we received overshadowed everything else in my mind. Most definitely, we would not go back to this restaurant if we were to ever find ourselves in Bar Harbor again.

This place's winning point is location - great people watching. And also great for some outdoor experience even when it's raining/drizzling. Went here for dinner on our first night and loved it so much we went again for our last night!! We tried the Fish cakes for an app they were awesome and I'm not even a huge fish guy..Signature ribeye was HUGE and cooked perfect med rare, chini-tini is a cool spicy vodka martini that certainly packs a punch, ambiance is casual but elegant with outdoor seating and lighting, it's even heated for those cold nights! This is a great spot for happy hour. Local drafts are $3, huge shrimp $1.50, and $5 flatbreads. The outside bar is perfect for people watching and they even welcomed our dog. Ben the bartender was super attentive and he can sing as well! What a great memory!

The extensive outdoor seating area is the best feature about this restaurant. The tables are all under roofing so that you do not need to worry about the sun, rain, etc. The food is yummy and the service friendly. I had the lobster and crab sandwich and my boyfriend the swordfish salad. Both were prepared to our satisfaction. If you are looking for a well prepared meal and nice outdoor seating, then Cherrystones is a safe choice. It just did not manage to leave an indelible mark or make our mouths water for more.

At first this place seemed decently good but we were soon unhappy. Although our server was friendly the service in general was slow. The clam chowder tasted like it was out of a can. I ordered the scallops which were good but only included 4 small ones. My friend had the lobster and said it was unusually chewy. We also thought it was unusual that they didn't give us any bread. It was also very cramped.

Absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is friendly and fun. Every single song they played was one of my favorites. The waitress Kelly was encouraging and told us to try the cherry stones. So glad we did, along with the oysters, and the flat bread. A must try when you visit Bar Harbor.

I had an awesome experience here in early October, when visiting Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park during the government shutdown! Lol. We were on a mission for OYSTERS and after eating our way through downtown Bar Harbor I think this is the #1 place to get them. The outdoor seating with the heated tent cover and twinkle lights is really romantic and charming. The staff are friendly and relaxed, not rushed, and the oysters are fresh and fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

If you are spending time in downtown Bar Harbor, this is a great option for happy hour, a quick drink to rest a bit from shopping or in between outdoor activities. The outdoor bar is positioned perfectly for great people watching, and they offer some really good, simple food options. The outdoor bar area was the only spot we hung out at, but there is a larger porch area for dining as well as an indoor dining room. I think the bar area is the best real estate though. As far as I know, you can order all the same items there as you could in the other dining areas. The happy hour special was killer. Half price draft beers. The Bar Harbor Real Ale @ $5 a pint is steal, so you can imagine my elation for the $2.50 happy hour pints. They also offered half price wine, well drinks, and flat breads. The flat breads were awesome! The drink menu also featured some creative cocktails, and old favorites. They serve a great Islander, and a Pina Colada that resembles a Friendly's Happy Ending Sunday complete with cherry on top. The bartenders were all very friendly, and if it wasn't busy would stop to make small talk. It seemed like there was solid mix of locals and tourists here, but everyone seemed to be very friendly, and converse with one another. Thanks to the guy next to us from Maryland, we also discovered that this place serves up delicious (and cheap) Gulf shrimp. They had live entertainment certain nights...I believe Wednesday was one of those nights, however I was on vacation so I usually forget the days of the week. I feel like any Bar Harbor review needs a dog ruling: Dogs definitely allowed in the outer bar area (which is covered). Not sure about on the porch dining area

We ate here in a previous vacation and remembered I had a good experience. Quality must have degraded over time, because we were quite disappointed with service and food during our latest visit. We stopped in for a late night bite, and wanted a place with some shelter to protect us from the oncoming shower. We ordered several apps of steamers, lobster salad, and an apple and beet salad. The clams were very gritty, and I was very surprised at how watered down my apple and beet salad tasted. How can one water down apples, beets, goat cheese, and pecans? Theoretically just saying the ingredients out loud should give you an idea of how tangy, earthy, and sweet it should taste... but alas, it just tasted like wet and bland salad leaves. Service was also quite laid back. They just kind of floated around, not doing anything. There was a wait for our food---how long does it take to steam clams and put together salad?---and they rarely checked in on us. It felt like they just wanted to all go home. I think we will cross this place off our list of places to eat the next time we vacation in Bar Harbor.

This place was ok. We stopped here on our first night in Bar Harbor. The best thing about this place was the drink I ordered. I got the blueberry martini and it was delicious and STRONG. The bottom of the glass was filled with fresh blueberries and it was, I gotta say, a real pretty drink. We all ordered the lobster dinner. It came with green beans and choice of roasted red skin potatoes or lobster mashed potatoes. The lobsters came and they just tasted really bland. Kind of tough, as well. The green beans were good and the potatoes(I got mashed, everyone else got red skin) and either option was pretty good. I would say, if you want a real authentic(and cheaper) lobster dinner, go out of town a little ways to one of the lobster pounds(Beal's or Thurston's are the best). I might give this place a try again and get something different, but not my favorite lobster dinner.

My wife and I both got "surf and turf" specials. The lobster was chewy and had a strong fishy smell, like it might have been reheated, overcooked, or dead before cooking. Some parts even smelled like ammonia. I've made it at home and had it in restaurants a few times and I don't think it's supposed to have any strong smell. The server was very friendly and could sense that we weren't happy, but we opted to not spend vacation time complaining about meals or waiting for a remake. I somewhat regret that now because I'm curious whether it was an honest mistake or whether they just wanted to pass off some bad lobster on unsuspecting tourists. On the positive side, the deck seating is quite nice, as was the server.

We each had lobster mashed potatoes which were inedible because it tasted like someone dropped a container of pepper in them. Our waiter/bartender/ possible manager came and asked if everything was ok and as an aside we just mentioned the potatoes were a bit over peppered. He could not have cared any less! Great little corner restaurant at the Village Green in Bar Harbor! Excellent deal to be had here during happy hour, too. Their food and drink specials make this one of the most reasonably priced restaurants in town. We stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner after noticing their 4-6PM happy hour specials and were not disappointed at all. My lobster roll and clam chowder were both very tasty. They had a pretty good beer list, although only the half price happy hour specials only applied to draft beers (which our awesome server pointed out when I ordered a bottle first). Did I mention the awesome server? In addition to making sure we would get the happy hour specials, he was quick to even provide alternate dining options from a local's point of view for our other nights in town. I'll definitely be back in for a beer on the patio or cocktail at the inside bar next time I'm in town. Also, note that the vibe of the inside bar/restaurant is very different from the deck bar on the corner. Inside seems much classier and subdued, while the deck is great for people watching and enjoying a drink and food in a more casual environment.

The onion rings were breaded perfectly and they were great! But the burger... Let me just say that I eat burgers often and, like most people, I have found that there is only so much you can do with a burger. Burgers aren't much different from Ruby Tuesdays to Longhorns to Bk. No matter what they choose to call them. But anyway, I got a burger here at Cherrystones which was billed as "The Goods." This. Burger. Was. Awesome! We needed a bigger table but they ended up stuffing us in a tiny little corner. I ended up putting things on the floor to make more room. I will give them credit, the food was fantastic. Surf & Turf was some of the best I have had in a very long time. Note that we are not typical American diners -- ie we would rather have smaller portions of good food for less money than get a dinner plate with enough for 3 portions on it. However my salmon was a very tiny slice with snow peas for $25, lobster dinner was just meh (my husband said he had better at the nightly lobster dinner offered at our KOA campground in Bar Harbor). Nothing horrible but we would not return.

YELP ROOAAAAAAAST!!!!!!!!!!!! Our rude waitress showed such disrespect trying to scam us on something as small as a beer glass. My dad collects cups and was very excited to get a custom made glass from the restaurant. she tried to give us a cheap PEPSI cola glass disguised in a paper bag that wasn't only cheap ($1 glass) but not even cleaned (5 dollas for a cup, Bruh seriously) . She was gonna get $30+ from seating ONE TABLE. We didn't do anything to annoy/anger her too. And she was still rude. Our dad, as kind and friendly as he is, was FURIOUS. I mean "**** her" and ****. This place is okay - nothing bad, nothing great. I ordered the prime rib sandwich and fries and was slightly underwhelmed. The meat seemed a little greasy for me. The service was good and the best part about the place is the cute location in downtown Bar Harbor. All in all, it's a decent (slightly touristy) restaurant in the area for lunch/dinner.

One of the early bird specials was $1.50 jumbo shrimp. This was very fresh and excellent. Served the classic way in a cup filled with tangy cocktail sauce. We decided to come here tonight so my wife could have the requisite boiled lobster while we're in Maine on vacation. My daughter was excited to have mac & cheese for dinner after loving mine at McKay's the other night, but was very disappointed; the $8 mac n' cheese on the kids menu was Kraft Dinner. At least she enjoyed the snow peas that came on the side, which were nicely crisp still. I started with the beet and apple salad, which was pretty good; the vinaigrette nicely offset the sweetness of the beets, and the apples, nuts, and goat cheese were good. But I suspect that the beets themselves came out of a can. My wife started with the clam chowder, which was also pretty good, though we've had better on this trip. At this point we got the bread service, which was warm rolls with very tasty blueberry butter. For my main course I had the mussel appetizer, which came in a tarragon cream sauce which was tasty but rather over-salted. My wife had ordered the boiled lobster, but got the grilled lobster tail by mistake and had to send it back; as a result she didn't get her food until after I was done. When it finally did come it was tasty, as were the snow peas and lobster mashed potatoes that came with it.

After eating lobster almost exclusively for a few days we came to Cherrystones for something different. I liked eating outside on the covered patio because there was very good people watching. Food wise and price wise I wasn't impressed with this restaurant and probably wouldn't go back. My boyfriend didn't like his clam chowder and I didn't like the steamers and my fish sandwich. The steamers were extremely gritty, almost as though they had not been scrubbed before being steamed. I have since realized I don't really like steamers in general, so this point may just be relevant to my personal taste. My fish sandwich was huge, so if you're looking for volume this is a good option. Our waitress wasn't sure what type of fish was in the sandwich, but was sure it was a local caught white fish. The sandwich was ok, but I did find it to be a little fishy. I also tried a glass of their house pinot noir which was not very good at all. All told not a horrible dining experience, but definitely expensive for what I thought to be subpar food.

We went here for dinner while on vacation, looking for a view of a TV to watch the World Cup final and made the mistake of not looking at the menu first before deciding to be seated. The prices were were extremely high for the selections offered. The prices were more than some places in New York City. I had the butternut squash ravioli, husband had halibut, son had lobster bisque, daughter had chicken. My meal was room temp, not hot, but for $21 (?) I wasn't going to not eat it. Well, I had a few and they just tasted packaged, not much squash inside them. Husbands halibut with pineapple was good. Chicken, well, it's hard to mess that up. Sons lobster bisque was ok. The service less than stellar. Our server never came back once our food was brought to us, no refills on drinks or our beers. Would consider your options before going here.

Came here for lunch with my girlfriend. The place wasn't busy, so we were seated right away. The server was a nice kid. Probably doing work during the summer season in between college terms. My gf was a fail and ordered chicken here.....yeah i don't get it. I had the lobster roll with homemade chips. I loved the chips. The lobster roll was good, but the chips were better. We also ordered a tuna sashimi app which was AMAZING. The tuna was sushi grade and it was seared and coated perfectly. I loved the taste of the crust. This was by far the best part of the whole meal. The blueberry alcoholic drink was really yummy too. It was deceptively strong but not overly sweet. It was a manly drink for a fruity drink. Love the casual feel and it looked like it got busier by the time that we were done with our meals.

I really recommend that you do not go to this restaurant. The prices are absurd! The quality of the food is below average but the prices would like you to believe that they are a four star restaurant. I only give them two stars because our waitress was very nice and did not charge me for the seafood piccata which I could not eat. The fried fish in the piccata tasted frozen and the sauce had no flavor. My boyfriend ordered the seared tuna which was pretty boring for $27. If they are going to charge so much money then the food should reflect the price. We had planned to go to the restaurant down the street (I can't remember the name) but it was raining and there was a line out the door. We decided on this place because I didn't want to stand in the rain anymore. The fact that only a quarter of the restaurant was occupied should have been a clue. Shame on me.

Enjoyed happy hour 1/2 price drafts and 1/2 price flat breads from 4pm to 6pm wife enjoyed a clam flat bread and I really enjoyed the mushroom sat at the Bar . Service was great . Young lady was very friendly . She was Coving the whole bar and all the tables but had time to meet and great everyone.

Horrible overpriced food. Even at half price for Happy Hour the flatbreads are like cardboard and clearly come right off a some frozen prepackaged delivery truck. And they do not know how to find 50% off a beer. All of our $5 and $6 beers were either $3 or $3.50. I know it is a little obsurd for me to complain about fifty cents but it really irritated me. Maybe if the food and service was better I wouldn't have minded. Go elsewhere...

This place's winning point is location - great people watching. And also great for some outdoor experience even when it's raining/drizzling. But overall food was just okay- lobster wasn't that fresh, nothing too interesting. And service was just okay. Went here for dinner on our first night and loved it so much we went again for our last night!! We tried the Fish cakes for an app they were awesome and I'm not even a huge fish guy..Signature ribeye was HUGE and cooked perfect med rare, chini-tini is a cool spicy vodka martini that certainly packs a punch, ambiance is casual but elegant with outdoor seating and lighting, it's even heated for those cold nights! Will be back for sure next time

This is a great spot for happy hour. Local drafts are $3, huge shrimp $1.50, and $5 flatbreads. The outside bar is perfect for people watching and they even welcomed our dog. Ben the bartender was super attentive and he can sing as well! What a great memory!

I was here for a dinner over the 4th of July weekend with my wife and parents. Bar Harbor was very crowded over the July 4th weekend and all places had long waits and so this was no exception. We had about a 30-minute long wait for being seated. Our parents were still feeling fairly full from the late lunch we had and so for the two of us we ordered a lobster carbonara, a cherrystones cioppino, and a bowl of the lobster bisque. We wanted to order a soup sampler but they were out of the soup-of-the-day so that took the soup sampler out of contention. My comments have to mostly do with the poor service at the restaurant. The first comment is that the server who should have gotten us bread did not do that until after our meals arrived. Which by the way took a long while from the time we ordered. When our meals did arrive, my wife was very surprised to find that she had not been served the Cioppino but instead had been served a seafood piccata. Anyone who has ever served at a restaurant serving both dishes should be able to spot the mistake in a jiffy but our server was slow in recognizing that she had messed up the order and had to "check with the kitchen" to verify it. Eventually she came back and agreed to her mistake. Instead of being apologetic, she asked us if we were prepared to wait for another 20 minutes to bring out the correct dish. As we were not in a tearing rush, we agreed that it would be worthwhile to wait and after another 12- 15 minutes, my wife was able to get the cioppino. The cioppino also comes with a side and although she had ordered a side of potatoes, that was missing! We were too tired by then to remind her and simply had the dishes as they were served. In addition, our waters were not refilled at all and there were times where we had to wait at least 5-8 minutes before our server who had been requested to refill our water would come back with refills.Overall, this was among the poorest services we have received in any restaurant in a long while. And worst of all, no one appeared apologetic or contrite once during the whole process. Hope that speaks to the quality of the service. As far as the taste of the food was concerned, it was fine but nothing spectacular. I am writing this review about two weeks later and I cannot think of anything which stood out - either in a good or a bad way. I recall having asked for a hot sauce / crushed red pepper for my carbonara but that probably speaks more about my taste buds than about the spiciness of the food since it is very common for me to find Italian food less spicy than ideal. But besides the un-remarkableness of the food, it is also the case that the poor service we received overshadowed everything else in my mind. Most definitely, we would not go back to this restaurant if we were to ever find ourselves in Bar Harbor again.

The extensive outdoor seating area is the best feature about this restaurant. The tables are all under roofing so that you do not need to worry about the sun, rain, etc. The food is yummy and the service friendly. I had the lobster and crab sandwich and my boyfriend the swordfish salad. Both were prepared to our satisfaction. If you are looking for a well prepared meal and nice outdoor seating, then Cherrystones is a safe choice. It just did not manage to leave an indelible mark or make our mouths water for more.

At first this place seemed decently good but we were soon unhappy. Although our server was friendly the service in general was slow. The clam chowder tasted like it was out of a can. I ordered the scallops which were good but only included 4 small ones. My friend had the lobster and said it was unusually chewy. We also thought it was unusual that they didn't give us any bread. It was also very cramped.

I had an awesome experience here in early October, when visiting Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park during the government shutdown! Lol. We were on a mission for OYSTERS and after eating our way through downtown Bar Harbor I think this is the #1 place to get them. The outdoor seating with the heated tent cover and twinkle lights is really romantic and charming. The staff are friendly and relaxed, not rushed, and the oysters are fresh and fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Had a very good experience tonight at CherrySTONES. Seated promptly early in the evening on a weekday. It's early in the summer season for Bar Harbor. Drink order was fulfilled right away, and they knew how to make an Old Fashioned. Soup came out quickly as did the entree. Wife had the lobster dinner special and I ordered the baked haddock from the menu. Both were very good. The 'lobster mashed potatoes' left us a little puzzled but was edible. Just bland. Place had a good atmosphere, maybe a little pricey but we left feeling satisfied.

Beautiful day and our family enjoyed the outdoor dining. The live music was a nice bonus! Waiter was very friendly. I ordered the lobster / crab / bacon sandwich and was very happy. Wife ordered the lobster roll and was also happy. I did deduct one star because my wife overheard one of the employees voice her opinion about another customer that was apparently unhappy with something. I deal with customers in my work and you should take that stuff to a back room, don't let other customers see it. Overall recommend!

If you are spending time in downtown Bar Harbor, this is a great option for happy hour, a quick drink to rest a bit from shopping or in between outdoor activities. The outdoor bar is positioned perfectly for great people watching, and they offer some really good, simple food options. The outdoor bar area was the only spot we hung out at, but there is a larger porch area for dining as well as an indoor dining room. I think the bar area is the best real estate though. As far as I know, you can order all the same items there as you could in the other dining areas. The happy hour special was killer. Half price draft beers. The Bar Harbor Real Ale @ $5 a pint is steal, so you can imagine my elation for the $2.50 happy hour pints. They also offered half price wine, well drinks, and flat breads. The flat breads were awesome! The drink menu also featured some creative cocktails, and old favorites. They serve a great Islander, and a Pina Colada that resembles a Friendly's Happy Ending Sunday complete with cherry on top. The bartenders were all very friendly, and if it wasn't busy would stop to make small talk. It seemed like there was solid mix of locals and tourists here, but everyone seemed to be very friendly, and converse with one another. Thanks to the guy next to us from Maryland, we also discovered that this place serves up delicious (and cheap) Gulf shrimp. They had live entertainment certain nights...I believe Wednesday was one of those nights, however I was on vacation so I usually forget the days of the week. I feel like any Bar Harbor review needs a dog ruling: Dogs definitely allowed in the outer bar area (which is covered). Not sure about on the porch dining area

A good location and decent food. Unfortunately no air conditioning and the porch gets very little breeze. The food was tasty...I had the crab melt (little or no mayo) with chips and it was good. He had the fish and chips special and it was a good portion plus tasty. Would return but maybe if it were cooler out. Also, they have a ton of specials so worth it for an early bird dinner option.

We ate here in a previous vacation and remembered I had a good experience. Quality must have degraded over time, because we were quite disappointed with service and food during our latest visit. We stopped in for a late night bite, and wanted a place with some shelter to protect us from the oncoming shower. We ordered several apps of steamers, lobster salad, and an apple and beet salad. The clams were very gritty, and I was very surprised at how watered down my apple and beet salad tasted. How can one water down apples, beets, goat cheese, and pecans? Theoretically just saying the ingredients out loud should give you an idea of how tangy, earthy, and sweet it should taste... but alas, it just tasted like wet and bland salad leaves. Service was also quite laid back. They just kind of floated around, not doing anything. There was a wait for our food---how long does it take to steam clams and put together salad?---and they rarely checked in on us. It felt like they just wanted to all go home. I think we will cross this place off our list of places to eat the next time we vacation in Bar Harbor.

We ate here a week ago. Late lunch, early dinner, just about happy hour time. It turned out that the outdoor patio was the perfect place to sit and watch the rain (and all the people dealing with the rain!) while refueling after a day of exploring Acadia National Park and walking around Bar Harbor. The thunderstorm rolled in just a few minutes after we sat down & when it started pouring, they dropped down the clear plastic awnings so we could look without getting soaked. We had the beet & apple salad, lobster bisque, and the baked haddock which came with brussel sprouts. Plus a mead made with cherries & apple cider called Zombie Killer. All of it hit the spot!! The rain cleared when we were done eating... couldn't have asked for more.

Went here two days in a row for happy hour. Great prices! Their flatbreads and drinks are half off, and $1 shrimp. Their computer was timed wrong so they charged us normal prices which we had to point out ourselves and get fixed...pretty annoying. I'm guessing they got away with charging plenty of people full price during happy hour. The flatbread was really good. The shrimp are just normal shrimp which I love. We also ordered a lobster here to share and it was nothing special. It seemed smaller than the advertised size. The pros: great covered outdoor seating right across from the village green, cheap happy hour prices (if they actually charge you correctly). 4 stars for the happy our, 1 star for everything else.

When we arrived, we were seated outside as requested, but the table was is a direct line with a heater blowing right on us, so we decided to wait for another table. It was so hot I could hardly breathe. As it turned out, a table in the bar area opened up and we enjoyed this much more. Our dinners were very good. My husband had a steak and I had halibut. We each had lobster mashed potatoes which were inedible because it tasted like someone dropped a container of pepper in them. Our waiter/bartender/ possible manager came and asked if everything was ok and as an aside we just mentioned the potatoes were a bit over peppered. He could not have cared any less! But overall, a nice place to lunch or have dinner.

Great little corner restaurant at the Village Green in Bar Harbor! Excellent deal to be had here during happy hour, too. Their food and drink specials make this one of the most reasonably priced restaurants in town. We stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner after noticing their 4-6PM happy hour specials and were not disappointed at all. My lobster roll and clam chowder were both very tasty. They had a pretty good beer list, although only the half price happy hour specials only applied to draft beers (which our awesome server pointed out when I ordered a bottle first). Did I mention the awesome server? In addition to making sure we would get the happy hour specials, he was quick to even provide alternate dining options from a local's point of view for our other nights in town. I'll definitely be back in for a beer on the patio or cocktail at the inside bar next time I'm in town. Also, note that the vibe of the inside bar/restaurant is very different from the deck bar on the corner. Inside seems much classier and subdued, while the deck is great for people watching and enjoying a drink and food in a more casual environment.

It is a bit harsh to give only 2 stars but the lobster was so lacking in taste that I have no choice. Early bird lobster specials abound in Bar Harbor and we try to eat most of them. I enjoyed sitting in the heated bar tent since there were quite a few dogs present, always a bonus for me. The bar specials were great though, the shrimp, HUGE and reasonable, the cocktail sauce so tasty I used it as my salad dressing as well. My husband thought his lobster was tasty so maybe 2.5 stars would be more fair.

This place was ok. We stopped here on our first night in Bar Harbor. The best thing about this place was the drink I ordered. I got the blueberry martini and it was delicious and STRONG. The bottom of the glass was filled with fresh blueberries and it was, I gotta say, a real pretty drink. We all ordered the lobster dinner. It came with green beans and choice of roasted red skin potatoes or lobster mashed potatoes. The lobsters came and they just tasted really bland. Kind of tough, as well. The green beans were good and the potatoes(I got mashed, everyone else got red skin) and either option was pretty good. I would say, if you want a real authentic(and cheaper) lobster dinner, go out of town a little ways to one of the lobster pounds(Beal's or Thurston's are the best). I might give this place a try again and get something different, but not my favorite lobster dinner.

My husband and I stopped here after a day of hiking and walking through Bar Harbor. The food was all done well, but nothing really shown through as fantastic. On the plus side, the oysters here were shucked really well! Not a single piece of wayward shell. Kudos to whoever shucks there. Unfortunately, they were not very flavorful. Also, $25 for a dozen seems a little steep for me. There are place sin Portland where you can get a dozen of super fresh oysters for $11. My bisque was definitely done well, for the first time in awhile I was happy to see actual bisque in front of me rather than chowder. I hate when restaurants do that. But I digress. Like the oysters the bisque suffered from a lack of flavor. It could have tasted a lot more strongly of lobster. My husband got a sandwich (I forgot what was on it...avocado? chicken?) and it was enormous! It's really hard to screw up a sandwich and like everything else it was prepared well, just not super amazing. Decent tap list, somewhat mediocre service. Our waitress disappeared for almost half an hour and we were stuck waiting for a check. We thought there was a change of shift, as did the table next to us but 30 minutes later there she was! No apology.

My husband and I had a very nice experience here. The outdoor seating is great for people watching and enjoying the warm air. The food was a bit pricey but we were very happy with our dinners. I had the chicken cobb salad (substituted lobster for more chicken since I don't like seafood) and my husband had the baked haddock. Both were excellent and we ate every last bite. If there was a negative the waitress we had was a little slow and quiet. I wouldn't call her unfriendly, she was just to the point and disappeared offering no casual banter which could work for some people.

Bar Harbor downtown is a really nice place. If you go there, don't ever think about going to Cherry Stones. Cherry Stones is a really bad restaurant. There are a few good things about Cherry Stones though. You don't have to wait to long for a table; it was 6:30 when we asked for a table. By 6:45 we were seated, and this was a Saturday evening. We had planned on going to another restaurant, Galyn's, which seemed to have had a longer wait time for seating. So we decided to go to Cherry Stones instead where were seated on the balcony at Cherry Stones, which was very nice. Also, the food was good. So you would think the restaurant would be highly rated. BUT IT'S NOT. The bad thing about Cherry Stones is pretty much, all the service. We had to wait 45 minutes before the waitress brought out our bread. Then we saw her bring out some food, which we thought was finally ours. But it was for another table, a table that had been seated AFTER us. The food for the other table was accompanied by questions from the waitress about who ordered what. Twenty minutes later, our food finally came out. She didn't ask who ordered what. Mom didn't get her entree at all. When we finally asked about the missing entree, the waitress brought it out within minutes. Unfortunately, it was the WRONG dish. What happened was Mom's dish was given to Uncle, and Uncle's dish was the one that was late. But uncle ate all of Mom's halibut. The waitress suggested that Mom's halibut could be redone, but would take about 10 more minutes; but we had already been there for 1 plus hour. No go. After dinner, we tried to check in with the manager to offer suggestions for better servicing. But the manager didn't give us the time of day. He didn't apologize for the mix up, and the slow, bad service. Instead, he said the waitress is competent and that's all. He had no sympathy for Mom not getting an entree, nor any concerns on the slowness of the service. This was, by far, the worst restaurant we visited in Bar Harbor. Galyn's would most likely have been much better, given there was a wait to be seated. Food and service there must mean something since Cherry Stones had no wait time. Cherry Stones has no customer service or concerns for the customers. If you go to Bar Harbor, don't go to Cherry Stones!

Everywhere you travel, there are restaurants that are touristy, with okay food that never rises above mediocrity. Cherrystones is such a restaurant. Convenient, especially in a rain storm, but average. I ordered 6 raw oysters. Every one had grit. The clam chowder was disappointing. Homemade, according to our server, but not very flavorful. My wife and I both got "surf and turf" specials. The lobster was chewy and had a strong fishy smell, like it might have been reheated, overcooked, or dead before cooking. Some parts even smelled like ammonia. I've made it at home and had it in restaurants a few times and I don't think it's supposed to have any strong smell. The server was very friendly and could sense that we weren't happy, but we opted to not spend vacation time complaining about meals or waiting for a remake. I somewhat regret that now because I'm curious whether it was an honest mistake or whether they just wanted to pass off some bad lobster on unsuspecting tourists. On the positive side, the deck seating is quite nice, as was the server.

This used to be the Parkside, and was always the first place we'd go for dinner when we arrived in Bar Harbor. It overlooks the park and is a close walk to our hotel. This year, it was Cherrystone's, and SO much better than Parkside! We actually ate here twice on our week long vacation. The haddock with aioli is to die for, as are the lobster mashed potatoes. The steamed clams we got to start were the cleanest I have ever had, and the scallops and salmon specials were great too. We only had wine, so I can't comment on how the bar drinks might be, but the service was excellent. You can sit on the upstairs deck overlooking the park, and they also have covered, heated street level seating (and indoor seating of course too). We were initially concerned when we saw it wasn't Parkside anymore, but this is certainly an improvement!

Went here with some friends from out of state who wanted some real Maine lobster. Me not being a fan of lobster, I played it safe with a burger and onion rings. The onion rings were breaded perfectly and they were great! But the burger... Let me just say that I eat burgers often and, like most people, I have found that there is only so much you can do with a burger. Burgers aren't much different from Ruby Tuesdays to Longhorns to Bk. No matter what they choose to call them. But anyway, I got a burger here at Cherrystones which was billed as "The Goods." This. Burger. Was. Awesome! I live in Bangor and definitely would make the hour trip to go to Cherrystones again.

Came here for lunch with my girlfriend. The place wasn't busy, so we were seated right away. The server was a nice kid. Probably doing work during the summer season in between college terms. My gf was a fail and ordered chicken here.....yeah i don't get it. I had the lobster roll with homemade chips. I loved the chips. The lobster roll was good, but the chips were better. We also ordered a tuna sashimi app which was AMAZING. The tuna was sushi grade and it was seared and coated perfectly. I loved the taste of the crust. This was by far the best part of the whole meal. The blueberry alcoholic drink was really yummy too. It was deceptively strong but not overly sweet. It was a manly drink for a fruity drink. Love the casual feel and it looked like it got busier by the time that we were done with our meals.

The prices were were extremely high for the selections offered. The prices were more than some places in New York City. I had the butternut squash ravioli, husband had halibut, son had lobster bisque, daughter had chicken. My meal was room temp, not hot, but for $21 (?) I wasn't going to not eat it. Well, I had a few and they just tasted packaged, not much squash inside them. Husbands halibut with pineapple was good. Chicken, well, it's hard to mess that up. Sons lobster bisque was ok. The service less than stellar. Our server never came back once our food was brought to us, no refills on drinks or our beers. Would consider your options before going here.

I really recommend that you do not go to this restaurant. The prices are absurd! The quality of the food is below average but the prices would like you to believe that they are a four star restaurant. I only give them two stars because our waitress was very nice and did not charge me for the seafood piccata which I could not eat. The fried fish in the piccata tasted frozen and the sauce had no flavor. My boyfriend ordered the seared tuna which was pretty boring for $27. If they are going to charge so much money then the food should reflect the price. We had planned to go to the restaurant down the street (I can't remember the name) but it was raining and there was a line out the door. We decided on this place because I didn't want to stand in the rain anymore. The fact that only a quarter of the restaurant was occupied should have been a clue. Shame on me.

Mediocre food, terrible service. A dozen clams was actually ten. I've never seen a lobster tail the size of my ring finger, either. We came because of the suggestion on our receipt from another restaurant by the same owners. Oh yeah, and our server forgot to take the 10% off our check even though I mentioned it. And to top it all off, she charged us for an extra kids' soda that we asked for because she got the order wrong.

Horrible overpriced food. Even at half price for Happy Hour the flatbreads are like cardboard and clearly come right off a some frozen prepackaged delivery truck. And they do not know how to find 50% off a beer. All of our $5 and $6 beers were either $3 or $3.50. I know it is a little obsurd for me to complain about fifty cents but it really irritated me. Maybe if the food and service was better I wouldn't have minded. Go elsewhere...

I was here for a dinner over the 4th of July weekend with my wife and parents. Bar Harbor was very crowded over the July 4th weekend and all places had long waits and so this was no exception. We had about a 30-minute long wait for being seated. Our parents were still feeling fairly full from the late lunch we had and so for the two of us we ordered a lobster carbonara, a cherrystones cioppino, and a bowl of the lobster bisque. We wanted to order a soup sampler but they were out of the soup-of-the-day so that took the soup sampler out of contention. My comments have to mostly do with the poor service at the restaurant. The first comment is that the server who should have gotten us bread did not do that until after our meals arrived. Which by the way took a long while from the time we ordered. When our meals did arrive, my wife was very surprised to find that she had not been served the Cioppino but instead had been served a seafood piccata. Anyone who has ever served at a restaurant serving both dishes should be able to spot the mistake in a jiffy but our server was slow in recognizing that she had messed up the order and had to "check with the kitchen" to verify it. Eventually she came back and agreed to her mistake. Instead of being apologetic, she asked us if we were prepared to wait for another 20 minutes to bring out the correct dish. As we were not in a tearing rush, we agreed that it would be worthwhile to wait and after another 12- 15 minutes, my wife was able to get the cioppino. The cioppino also comes with a side and although she had ordered a side of potatoes, that was missing! We were too tired by then to remind her and simply had the dishes as they were served. In addition, our waters were not refilled at all and there were times where we had to wait at least 5-8 minutes before our server who had been requested to refill our water would come back with refills.Overall, this was among the poorest services we have received in any restaurant in a long while. And worst of all, no one appeared apologetic or contrite once during the whole process. Hope that speaks to the quality of the service. As far as the taste of the food was concerned, it was fine but nothing spectacular. I am writing this review about two weeks later and I cannot think of anything which stood out - either in a good or a bad way. I recall having asked for a hot sauce / crushed red pepper for my carbonara but that probably speaks more about my taste buds than about the spiciness of the food since it is very common for me to find Italian food less spicy than ideal. But besides the un-remarkableness of the food, it is also the case that the poor service we received overshadowed everything else in my mind. Most definitely, we would not go back to this restaurant if we were to ever find ourselves in Bar Harbor again.

At first this place seemed decently good but we were soon unhappy. Although our server was friendly the service in general was slow. The clam chowder tasted like it was out of a can. I ordered the scallops which were good but only included 4 small ones. My friend had the lobster and said it was unusually chewy. We also thought it was unusual that they didn't give us any bread. It was also very cramped.

Absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is friendly and fun. Every single song they played was one of my favorites. The waitress Kelly was encouraging and told us to try the cherry stones. So glad we did, along with the oysters, and the flat bread. A must try when you visit Bar Harbor.

I had an awesome experience here in early October, when visiting Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park during the government shutdown! Lol. We were on a mission for OYSTERS and after eating our way through downtown Bar Harbor I think this is the #1 place to get them. The outdoor seating with the heated tent cover and twinkle lights is really romantic and charming. The staff are friendly and relaxed, not rushed, and the oysters are fresh and fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

If you are spending time in downtown Bar Harbor, this is a great option for happy hour, a quick drink to rest a bit from shopping or in between outdoor activities. The outdoor bar is positioned perfectly for great people watching, and they offer some really good, simple food options. The outdoor bar area was the only spot we hung out at, but there is a larger porch area for dining as well as an indoor dining room. I think the bar area is the best real estate though. As far as I know, you can order all the same items there as you could in the other dining areas. The happy hour special was killer. Half price draft beers. The Bar Harbor Real Ale @ $5 a pint is steal, so you can imagine my elation for the $2.50 happy hour pints. They also offered half price wine, well drinks, and flat breads. The flat breads were awesome! The drink menu also featured some creative cocktails, and old favorites. They serve a great Islander, and a Pina Colada that resembles a Friendly's Happy Ending Sunday complete with cherry on top. The bartenders were all very friendly, and if it wasn't busy would stop to make small talk. It seemed like there was solid mix of locals and tourists here, but everyone seemed to be very friendly, and converse with one another. Thanks to the guy next to us from Maryland, we also discovered that this place serves up delicious (and cheap) Gulf shrimp. They had live entertainment certain nights...I believe Wednesday was one of those nights, however I was on vacation so I usually forget the days of the week. I feel like any Bar Harbor review needs a dog ruling: Dogs definitely allowed in the outer bar area (which is covered). Not sure about on the porch dining area

This place's winning point is location - great people watching. And also great for some outdoor experience even when it's raining/drizzling. But overall food was just okay- lobster wasn't that fresh, nothing too interesting. And service was just okay. Drinks were pretty good though - so might be a better happy hour stop than a full dinner visit.

Went here for dinner on our first night and loved it so much we went again for our last night!! We tried the Fish cakes for an app they were awesome and I'm not even a huge fish guy..Signature ribeye was HUGE and cooked perfect med rare, chini-tini is a cool spicy vodka martini that certainly packs a punch, ambiance is casual but elegant with outdoor seating and lighting, it's even heated for those cold nights! This is a great spot for happy hour. Local drafts are $3, huge shrimp $1.50, and $5 flatbreads. The outside bar is perfect for people watching and they even welcomed our dog. Ben the bartender was super attentive and he can sing as well! What a great memory!

The extensive outdoor seating area is the best feature about this restaurant. The tables are all under roofing so that you do not need to worry about the sun, rain, etc. The food is yummy and the service friendly. I had the lobster and crab sandwich and my boyfriend the swordfish salad. Both were prepared to our satisfaction. If you are looking for a well prepared meal and nice outdoor seating, then Cherrystones is a safe choice. It just did not manage to leave an indelible mark or make our mouths water for more.

Had a very good experience tonight at CherrySTONES. Seated promptly early in the evening on a weekday. It's early in the summer season for Bar Harbor. Drink order was fulfilled right away, and they knew how to make an Old Fashioned. Soup came out quickly as did the entree. Wife had the lobster dinner special and I ordered the baked haddock from the menu. Both were very good. The 'lobster mashed potatoes' left us a little puzzled but was edible. Just bland. Place had a good atmosphere, maybe a little pricey but we left feeling satisfied.

Beautiful day and our family enjoyed the outdoor dining. The live music was a nice bonus! Waiter was very friendly. I ordered the lobster / crab / bacon sandwich and was very happy. Wife ordered the lobster roll and was also happy. I did deduct one star because my wife overheard one of the employees voice her opinion about another customer that was apparently unhappy with something. I deal with customers in my work and you should take that stuff to a back room, don't let other customers see it. Overall recommend!

Dinner service was good, rolls with fresh cinnamon maple butter were delicious. Bacon wrapped scallops cooked perfectly. Lobster very tasty. Haddock was overcooked, and cut wasn't the best. Stick with the lobster you can't go wrong. Ambience outside much better than indoors.

We ate here a week ago. Late lunch, early dinner, just about happy hour time. It turned out that the outdoor patio was the perfect place to sit and watch the rain (and all the people dealing with the rain!) while refueling after a day of exploring Acadia National Park and walking around Bar Harbor. The thunderstorm rolled in just a few minutes after we sat down & when it started pouring, they dropped down the clear plastic awnings so we could look without getting soaked. We had the beet & apple salad, lobster bisque, and the baked haddock which came with brussel sprouts. Plus a mead made with cherries & apple cider called Zombie Killer. All of it hit the spot!! The rain cleared when we were done eating... couldn't have asked for more.

Went here two days in a row for happy hour. Great prices! Their flatbreads and drinks are half off, and $1 shrimp. Their computer was timed wrong so they charged us normal prices which we had to point out ourselves and get fixed...pretty annoying. I'm guessing they got away with charging plenty of people full price during happy hour. The flatbread was really good. The shrimp are just normal shrimp which I love. We also ordered a lobster here to share and it was nothing special. It seemed smaller than the advertised size. The pros: great covered outdoor seating right across from the village green, cheap happy hour prices (if they actually charge you correctly). 4 stars for the happy our, 1 star for everything else.

We had a great lunch at Cherrystone's. The hostess seated us on their upstairs balcony, which offered us great peoplewatching in the central square on a lovely afternoon. The menu has some great lunch-fare options. I ordered the Lobster Roll with a side salad instead of the usual chips, which was fresh and delicious. Bar Harbor downtown is a really nice place. If you go there, don't ever think about going to Cherry Stones. Cherry Stones is a really bad restaurant. There are a few good things about Cherry Stones though. You don't have to wait to long for a table; it was 6:30 when we asked for a table. By 6:45 we were seated, and this was a Saturday evening. We had planned on going to another restaurant, Galyn's, which seemed to have had a longer wait time for seating. So we decided to go to Cherry Stones instead where were seated on the balcony at Cherry Stones, which was very nice. Also, the food was good. So you would think the restaurant would be highly rated. BUT IT'S NOT. The bad thing about Cherry Stones is pretty much, all the service. We had to wait 45 minutes before the waitress brought out our bread. Then we saw her bring out some food, which we thought was finally ours. But it was for another table, a table that had been seated AFTER us. The food for the other table was accompanied by questions from the waitress about who ordered what. Twenty minutes later, our food finally came out. She didn't ask who ordered what. Mom didn't get her entree at all. When we finally asked about the missing entree, the waitress brought it out within minutes. Unfortunately, it was the WRONG dish. What happened was Mom's dish was given to Uncle, and Uncle's dish was the one that was late. But uncle ate all of Mom's halibut. The waitress suggested that Mom's halibut could be redone, but would take about 10 more minutes; but we had already been there for 1 plus hour. No go. After dinner, we tried to check in with the manager to offer suggestions for better servicing. But the manager didn't give us the time of day. He didn't apologize for the mix up, and the slow, bad service. Instead, he said the waitress is competent and that's all. He had no sympathy for Mom not getting an entree, nor any concerns on the slowness of the service. This was, by far, the worst restaurant we visited in Bar Harbor. Galyn's would most likely have been much better, given there was a wait to be seated. Food and service there must mean something since Cherry Stones had no wait time. Cherry Stones has no customer service or concerns for the customers. If you go to Bar Harbor, don't go to Cherry Stones!

Everywhere you travel, there are restaurants that are touristy, with okay food that never rises above mediocrity. Cherrystones is such a restaurant. Convenient, especially in a rain storm, but average. I ordered 6 raw oysters. Every one had grit. The clam chowder was disappointing. Homemade, according to our server, but not very flavorful. My husband and I had a very nice experience here. The outdoor seating is great for people watching and enjoying the warm air. The food was a bit pricey but we were very happy with our dinners. I had the chicken cobb salad (substituted lobster for more chicken since I don't like seafood) and my husband had the baked haddock. Both were excellent and we ate every last bite. If there was a negative the waitress we had was a little slow and quiet. I wouldn't call her unfriendly, she was just to the point and disappeared offering no casual banter which could work for some people.

This used to be the Parkside, and was always the first place we'd go for dinner when we arrived in Bar Harbor. It overlooks the park and is a close walk to our hotel. This year, it was Cherrystone's, and SO much better than Parkside! We actually ate here twice on our week long vacation. The haddock with aioli is to die for, as are the lobster mashed potatoes. The steamed clams we got to start were the cleanest I have ever had, and the scallops and salmon specials were great too. We only had wine, so I can't comment on how the bar drinks might be, but the service was excellent. You can sit on the upstairs deck overlooking the park, and they also have covered, heated street level seating (and indoor seating of course too). We were initially concerned when we saw it wasn't Parkside anymore, but this is certainly an improvement!

My husband and I stopped here after a day of hiking and walking through Bar Harbor. The food was all done well, but nothing really shown through as fantastic. On the plus side, the oysters here were shucked really well! Not a single piece of wayward shell. Kudos to whoever shucks there. Unfortunately, they were not very flavorful. Also, $25 for a dozen seems a little steep for me. There are place sin Portland where you can get a dozen of super fresh oysters for $11. My bisque was definitely done well, for the first time in awhile I was happy to see actual bisque in front of me rather than chowder. I hate when restaurants do that. But I digress. Like the oysters the bisque suffered from a lack of flavor. It could have tasted a lot more strongly of lobster. My husband got a sandwich (I forgot what was on it...avocado? chicken?) and it was enormous! It's really hard to screw up a sandwich and like everything else it was prepared well, just not super amazing. Decent tap list, somewhat mediocre service. Our waitress disappeared for almost half an hour and we were stuck waiting for a check. We thought there was a change of shift, as did the table next to us but 30 minutes later there she was! No apology.

It is a bit harsh to give only 2 stars but the lobster was so lacking in taste that I have no choice. Early bird lobster specials abound in Bar Harbor and we try to eat most of them. I enjoyed sitting in the heated bar tent since there were quite a few dogs present, always a bonus for me. The bar specials were great though, the shrimp, HUGE and reasonable, the cocktail sauce so tasty I used it as my salad dressing as well. My husband thought his lobster was tasty so maybe 2.5 stars would be more fair.

With the many choice for sea food dinners, we decided to try Cherrystones. We came in with a fairly large group. Very disappointed in the staff. We needed a bigger table but they ended up stuffing us in a tiny little corner. I completely understand the restaurant wanting to keep tables for more guest but come on we did not even have enough room for keep all our plates on the table. I ended up putting things on the floor to make more room. I will give them credit, the food was fantastic. Surf & Turf was some of the best I have had in a very long time. Can't give them more than 2 stars due to their digesting service.

This place is okay - nothing bad, nothing great. I ordered the prime rib sandwich and fries and was slightly underwhelmed. The meat seemed a little greasy for me. My boyfriend got a burger that he enjoyed, it had BBQ sauce, onion rings, and other interesting toppings. We both had some chowder which was good, as well. The service was good and the best part about the place is the cute location in downtown Bar Harbor. All in all, it's a decent (slightly touristy) restaurant in the area for lunch/dinner.

We decided to come here tonight so my wife could have the requisite boiled lobster while we're in Maine on vacation. My daughter was excited to have mac & cheese for dinner after loving mine at McKay's the other night, but was very disappointed; the $8 mac n' cheese on the kids menu was Kraft Dinner. At least she enjoyed the snow peas that came on the side, which were nicely crisp still. I started with the beet and apple salad, which was pretty good; the vinaigrette nicely offset the sweetness of the beets, and the apples, nuts, and goat cheese were good. But I suspect that the beets themselves came out of a can. My wife started with the clam chowder, which was also pretty good, though we've had better on this trip. At this point we got the bread service, which was warm rolls with very tasty blueberry butter. For my main course I had the mussel appetizer, which came in a tarragon cream sauce which was tasty but rather over-salted. My wife had ordered the boiled lobster, but got the grilled lobster tail by mistake and had to send it back; as a result she didn't get her food until after I was done. When it finally did come it was tasty, as were the snow peas and lobster mashed potatoes that came with it.

After eating lobster almost exclusively for a few days we came to Cherrystones for something different. I liked eating outside on the covered patio because there was very good people watching. Food wise and price wise I wasn't impressed with this restaurant and probably wouldn't go back. My boyfriend didn't like his clam chowder and I didn't like the steamers and my fish sandwich. The steamers were extremely gritty, almost as though they had not been scrubbed before being steamed. I have since realized I don't really like steamers in general, so this point may just be relevant to my personal taste. My fish sandwich was huge, so if you're looking for volume this is a good option. Our waitress wasn't sure what type of fish was in the sandwich, but was sure it was a local caught white fish. The sandwich was ok, but I did find it to be a little fishy. I also tried a glass of their house pinot noir which was not very good at all. All told not a horrible dining experience, but definitely expensive for what I thought to be subpar food.

YELP ROOAAAAAAAST!!!!!!!!!!!! Our rude waitress showed such disrespect trying to scam us on something as small as a beer glass. My dad collects cups and was very excited to get a custom made glass from the restaurant. she tried to give us a cheap PEPSI cola glass disguised in a paper bag that wasn't only cheap ($1 glass) but not even cleaned (5 dollas for a cup, Bruh seriously) . I mean FO REAL that's low. NOW THIS WASNT ALL SHE DID. My bro,on his way to the bathroom, overheard our waitress talking smack bout our 10 year old brother(who has troubles communicating sometimes) She was Thinking that he gave her a bad look, when he was just confused on what she was saying. I mean why u talking about a 10 year old. I mean Come on. All 6 of us even spent 180 bucks eating there and u STILL stealing money from us. So 20% of 180 is I think above $30. She was gonna get $30+ from seating ONE TABLE. We didn't do anything to annoy/anger her too. And she was still rude. Our dad, as kind and friendly as he is, was FURIOUS. I mean "**** her" and ****. We've all never seen him this upset tho. I wouldn't blame em. We asked for nothing. And got crappy service in return. GOOD FOOD THO.

Good food but extremely small portions and overpriced for what you get. Note that we are not typical American diners -- ie we would rather have smaller portions of good food for less money than get a dinner plate with enough for 3 portions on it. However my salmon was a very tiny slice with snow peas for $25, lobster dinner was just meh (my husband said he had better at the nightly lobster dinner offered at our KOA campground in Bar Harbor). Nothing horrible but we would not return.

Nice restaurant. They had multiple outdoor seating options. Husband got the before 6pm lobster special for $20 with the lobster mashed potatoes. The lobster was on the smaller side. I got the lobster roll special with chowder and fries. The lobster roll was great. The fries tasted like they needed to change the oil in the dryer though. My daughter got the lobster carbonara and it was delicious. Our waiter was super nice. Overall a nice experience in Bar Harbor.

Was really lovin' this place for a late night dinner until the waitress insisted (three times) when we asked for dessert that we go to the ice cream place across the street. Why not just close the kitchen at some point and tell clients hey we are taking last orders for dessert? Do you really think people are that stupid that they can't tell? Lobster bisque was one of the best ever. Food was very good. Prices were on the higher side but not expensive.

We ate here in a previous vacation and remembered I had a good experience. Quality must have degraded over time, because we were quite disappointed with service and food during our latest visit. We stopped in for a late night bite, and wanted a place with some shelter to protect us from the oncoming shower. We ordered several apps of steamers, lobster salad, and an apple and beet salad. The clams were very gritty, and I was very surprised at how watered down my apple and beet salad tasted. How can one water down apples, beets, goat cheese, and pecans? Theoretically just saying the ingredients out loud should give you an idea of how tangy, earthy, and sweet it should taste... but alas, it just tasted like wet and bland salad leaves. Service was also quite laid back. They just kind of floated around, not doing anything. There was a wait for our food---how long does it take to steam clams and put together salad?---and they rarely checked in on us. It felt like they just wanted to all go home. I think we will cross this place off our list of places to eat the next time we vacation in Bar Harbor.
